I first made heart cutout sugar cookies into underwear two Christmases ago to be obnoxious. (My mom still regrets leaving that baking tasks to only me and my imagination.) I brought them to a couple of family gatherings, and you should have seen the look on my grandmother’s face!
Now I’ve found they’re much more fitting and appropriate to bring to bridal showers and bachelorette parties. For those of you wondering and asking what recipe I used for the dough, here it is! 🙂
Ingredients:
1 lb. butter (We’re going Paula Deen on this recipe.)
4 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
2 cups sugar
2 tsp. baking powder
5 1/2 cups flour
Combine softened butter, eggs, and vanilla. Add dry ingredients and roll out on floured surface to desired thickness, cut with floured cookie cutters. Bake on lightly greased cookie sheet at 350 degrees for 7-10 minutes.
I then made vanilla frosting by mixing 3 cups of powdered sugar, 1/3 cup of softened butter, 1 1/2 tsp. vanilla, and about 2 Tbsp. of milk. I then added food coloring until I got a shade I liked.
This is a great recipe and the shape cut with the cookie cutter holds up well!
